Colorado River Basin[small]This week, we are looking at landscape related stories in the headlines and not surprisingly, during these hot, dry days days of summer, water seems to be on the minds of many.  From water restrictions and serious fines, to record low levels in a river basin that serves 7 western US states, it's no doubt why water continues to be in the news.  Water is once again the focus of our 7/30 landscapechat Round Table topic.

Drought Apocalypse Approaches - Scientists discover that seven western states are depleting groundwater reserves of the Colorado River Basin at an unprecedented rate.

Drought Shaming - A phenomenon of people in parched California areas are sharing water wasting neighbors in the act via social media, but water agencies aren't fans of #droughtshaming or LIKE where is could lead.

NASAs Drought Weapon -  NASA can measure snowfall and anticipate snowmeltcan saving billions of gallons of water.

Desalination Solution  - Desalination could offer a solution to California's drought based on a pilot project that's turning brackish water into fresh using solar thermal energy.
